Ares Snarling, hiss, yelping, and whines filled the air on the pine forest border of Lightclan and Sunclan territories. The normally quiet, abandoned twoleg path was now echoing with the noise of combat, a scuffle that would have made any cat's fur stand on end. The sound was no doubt coming from a cat, fighting fiercely to protect himself from a fox he had by chance run into. The fox was young and healthy, matching his moves but not enough to leave but a few scrapes and nicks on his body. Ares ducked as a snap of jaws went for his head, hearing the "snap" sound as the teeth came together and shuddering at the thought of what could have happened if it made contact. But it gave him an opening to headbutt the fox back, unsteadying it's paws before lunging forward to swipe his reinforced, constantly unsheathed claws across it's neck sending blood splattering on the forest floor and nearby trees. Though it caused the canine creature to gag it wasn't enough to exactly kill it, Ares realizing he had missed some vital parts and was pounced at his shocked expression gave it enough time to attack. He found it's fangs gripping his neck fur, causing him to freeze even further and seeing the delight in the creature's eyes as it seemed ready to give the finishing blow. But with a determined angry yowl the calico tom began raking his claws at it's belly, digging into its fur and flesh that made the creature whine in pain and rear back to before collapsing, blood loss beginning to take over on top of the pain. Heaving himself up, Ares stared with his mis-matched eyes at the poor creature, laying with labored breathes and a gory scene before him most would be horrified to see. Triumph in his green and amber eyes, Ares circled the creature, adding bites and shallow cuts as he did that made the fox whine pitifully until boredom set in. Stopping at the base of the neck and spine, Ares gave the killing bite to it and feeling the life go limp. " Good way to train, shame it was over quicker than I wanted it to be." Ares said with a disappointed sigh, his tail flicking in a casual manner as he grabbed the scruff of the fox and dragged it to the middle of the twoleg path right on the border of Lightclan's and Sunclan's border line. " That should do it." He said with satisfaction before he heard a brief noise, turning to face it with flattened ears as the rush from the battle still surged through his body and in the middle of it realized someone from either clan could have come to see the commotion. " Show yourself fox dung of a cat!"" Ares spat, not in the mood to play recover the clan cat from the bushes. Tags: Anyone with Sunclan and Lightclan cats are welcome. XD This is right on the border. Notes: Bloodclan may be gone but their reputation isn't...

Redshade
A large tom stalked silently through the bushes, the tip of his tail twitching back in forth in a steady rhythm. Today was his apprentice's final assessment and he was determined to find exactly the right place for it. Pride swelled his chest and he had to focus hard to keep a spring from his step. She was his first and he was confident she would be one of the best warriors in the clan.
Finally, Redshade halted, turning back to face Honeypaw eyes glimmering with excitement. They were in the far corner of their territory near the border with Lightclan in one of the hardest places to track prey down. This, of course, was only part of the assessment, but an important one all the same. He was just about to state her challenge when the sounds of battle reached his ears. The large tom froze, mouth still hanging open as if to speak as he strained to hear. Over the next few seconds, it became apparent to him it was indeed a battle. "Come on," was his short response as he turned and sprinted towards the sounds.
He skidded to a stop, a few tail-lengths away from the Lightclan border. A thick growth of ivy cast them in shadow, hiding them from few. Red shade was shocked by what he saw. A tom stood on the border, bloody from battle with a dead fox laying beside him. Around his neck was a collar.... The cold sensation of fear swept over the tom as the thought entered his mind. Was this cat of the famed blood clan?
"Show yourself fox dung of a cat!"
Anger quickly overcame fear. With a quick glance at Honeypaw, Redshade shouldered his way forward, a scowl settling over his features. Blood clan or no this intruder had to be driven form their territory. "We're here, but that shouldn't come as a surprise as this is clearly clan territory. Who are you and what are you doing here?"

Honeypaw Like her mentor Honeypaw was having a hard time keeping her excitement down, much less yowling to Starclan they would soon be honoring a new warrior. Why was Honeypaw so excited? It was her last and final assessment, her chance to prove to Redshade once and for all she was ready to become a warrior of Sunclan. The cream-colored she-cat had worked her tail off to reach to this point for the past seven moons, taking all the abuse and rough road with being an apprentice and now was on the verge of becoming something her clanmates could be proud of. Her fur and paws prickled with energy from her excitement and it was difficult to keep from pouncing around like an excited kit. But who could blame her! Not to her surprise though once they came to a stop, she found that same excitement glittering in her mentor’s eyes and she sure she saw a hint of pride too. She was his first apprentice, soon she would be his first apprentice-turned-warrior of which the excitement and anticipation was clear in her own. Honeypaw felt fit to burst from her very fur! She watched with big, round sky blue eyes as Redshade opened his mouth to speak…only to be stopped short as a new commotion reached their ears. The young she-cat turned her ears forward towards the sound and listened closely, catching the same sound her mentor was. It was a battle going on, and from the sound of things it was a cat, but only one. There was something else there, though she couldn’t quite make out what it was. Moments later Redshade spoke, “ Right behind you.” Honeypaw said as she raced after her mentor, determined to discover what exactly was going on. Was a Lightclan cat in trouble? Chasing off someone or something? It was hard to tell at first until they got closer, the scent of blood, cat, and fox mingling together that partly stung her nose and making her eyes narrow to slits with disgust. Nevertheless, she kept her suggestions of turning back down as she crept forward into the shadow of the ivy plant beside Redshade and peering through the trees at the shocking sight. Her eyes widened in utter shock and fear. Before them was a tom baring a tooth-studded collar like the defeated Bloodclan of seasons before, covered in the blood of the fox and his own as wounds were clear on his calico form. But if he really was Bloodclan there had to be others surely! Honeypaw had to be certain. Slowly creeping backwards, the cream she-cat began slinking further down the border to smell for any other scents, catching the tom’s since he had seemed to make no attempts to hide it. But at some point her shoulder hit a bush close by as she examined the area, cringing as she heard the tom demand for them to reveal themselves. Hearing Redshade though it seemed the apprentice couldn’t stay hidden, swallowing her fear as she emerged a bit further down but moving forward with her eyes narrowed and shoulders square, waiting for the rogue to answer. Ares The large tom that emerged made Ares narrow his eyes, sizing them up immediately. Redshade was larger than him in size, strong even, well-fed, in good condition. The red-looking tom didn’t even had to mention being clan born before it became clear to Ares just by his scent, definitely not twolegplace nor kittypet, nothing but forest smells. But soon another emerged, this one smaller and cream colored, a she-cat who looked younger. An apprentice maybe? No matter. Keeping the two within his sights Ares gave a soft snort, “ You can call me Ares my forest dwelling friend and I’m aware of what the territories are clan cat, and technically this path doesn’t belong to either clan that resides here. Your scent markers stop on these pines and no further.” Ares scoffed, unimpressed by Redshade or his apprentice as he stood tall and flexing his claws to show some arrogance in his posture. “ As for why I’m here I was just taking a stroll on a lovely day. Seeming as this path is relatively free space there’s no harm in getting to know my neighbors.” He said with a shrug, almost lazily walking between Redshade and Honeypaw to show just how much he cared little for their boundaries. “ Twolegplace doesn’t care for boundaries, and boundaries use to be a thing of the past for the clans as I recall.”Now the calico tom was pressing, his tone casual and being matter-of-fact. Bloodclan wasn’t around anymore but he was here to get a rise out of the clans, to bring about a haunt of their past they seemed eager to put behind them. It had been ten seasons since the downfall of Bloodclan but most of these cats had Bloodclan lineage too. Though he stopped his pacing and turned as Honeypaw spat at him, “ We aren’t Bloodclan anymore! The tradition of the clans is everything to us now whether you like it or not!” Honeypaw growled, pushing back her own fear that became replaced with rage at the remarks the tom made. Redshade
“You can call me Ares my forest dwelling friend and I’m aware of what the territories are clan cat, and technically this path doesn’t belong to either clan that resides here. Seeming as this path is relatively free space there’s no harm in getting to know my neighbors. Twolegplace doesn’t care for boundaries, and boundaries use to be a thing of the past for the clans as I recall.”
Redshade remained calm as the male voiced his opinions, his ear flicking in distaste. This loner new too much about the clans and that collar... Redshade had always dreaded a confrontation such as this, but he had never thought it would happen. Blood clan had been defeated long ago and yet here a cat stood bearing the collar pierced with teeth and claws that had been Bloodclan's signature. Before Redshade could address the tom, his apprentice spoke up, “We aren’t Bloodclan anymore! The tradition of the clans is everything to us now whether you like it or not!”
He shot an annoyed look Honeypaw's way before returning his gaze to the intruder, "we have kept the ways of our ancestors, despite everything Bloodclan did." He shot at the loner eyes narrowed in dislike. "Though you may not be on our territory, we could still chase you away for "threatening" as it would seem." He added after only a moments pause.

Ares Amusement glittered in the calico's eyes, giving Honeypaw a simple scoff at her outburst as he turned away to show disinterest in her words, even smacking her with his tail. The action earned an angry hiss from the she-cat which he ignored. " Keeping traditions doesn't mean you should forget part of who you were clan cat. Fact of the matter is Bloodclan's memory isn't going to be forgotten so easily." Ares retorted as he came right up to Redshade until the two were practically nose to nose, his heterachromic eyes narrowed towards the warrior. What Redshade could notice was a slight glee in the tom's eyes, obviously a sign he liked the fact he could possibly get a rise out of these cats and wasn't afraid to try. " Exactly what threat have I posed or stated exactly hm? All I said was boundaries were never a problem in Twolegplace and those from it don't care for the boundaries. Everything is free to us and so long as we can hold our own nothing is beyond our reach." Ares stated in a matter-of-fact way before gesturing with his tail towards the dead fox, " Besides you should be thanking me. If not for me that young fox would be prowling your territory or the one across for tasty apprentices or kits." He said, smug in his words and expression. But with being so close and the urge of battle still coursing through him, Ares was all to tempted to oblige his urge to slice his claws through the red tom's throat. It would be simple and easy, especially with their proximity. Sure the tom could react but possibly not without receiving a serious wound in the process. The battle with the fox had fed into his blood lust and now for the clan cats to so nicely show themselves he could finally spill the blood of a clan cat after not encountering one up until this point. There was even a slight flex in his claws, indicating the thought and showing he was itching to make the strike on his adopted enemy. Honeypaw The cream colored she-cat glared at Ares as he turned his back to her, the smack more than earning him a silent promise to make him pay for it. But now she watched in shock as the tom seemed to bodily go right up to her mentor without even a second thought, squaring up to the older warrior which made her uneasy. How much fearlessness could a cat have to not consider the consequences of being another's face? But it was clear what he was doing. This Ares was pushing their boundaries, trying to find the right buttons to push or perhaps unnerve them due to the fact he did have the signature collar and claws of Bloodclan. In fact, had his family been part of Bloodclan? Or had their reputation inspire new cats to start laying claim to the legacy? Regardless of what it was it left her fur being rubbed the wrong way, making her frown as she watched the exchange, casting a glance towards the young fox Ares gestured to. The canine creature was lifeless nearby, and his wounds indicated deep, nasty cuts and from what she could see some were made when the creature had been suffering. What cat tortured their enemy when they were down? It made her visible shudder as she turned her attention to her mentor and the loner, or was rogue now a better word. Her eyes narrowed then, seeing Ares' claws flex and show signs of itching to attack. Their closeness also made Honeypaw realize that Redshade might not have enough room or time to react as she could see in the loner's body language that he was contemplating his next move. " Redshade get back!" HOneypaw called, lunging forward to slam her entire body into Ares' side, causing the smaller tom to let out a disgruntled grunt of surprise, being thrown off his paws while Honeypaw stumbled forward slightly too worried of her mentor getting harmed to see what he did. But Ares seemed to quickly roll back to his paws as Honeypaw was getting her own bearings and letting out a battle cry of anger as he swiped his claws at the she-cat and earning shallow cuts across the top of her head that made her hiss in pain. But the attack also leaving Ares vulnerable as he zeroed his attention on Honeypaw. Tags: BrightstarNotes:N/A
